Big Tech earnings this week: Microsoft, Google and Amazon report. Dates and what to watch
Microsoft and Alphabet report on October 28 and Amazon on October 29, in the same week as a Fed rate decision. Here are the dates, what Wall Street expects, and the AI numbers that matter most.
This is one of the biggest weeks of the year for tech stocks. Microsoft, Alphabet (Google’s parent) and Amazon all report their quarterly results, and investors want one answer above all: is the giant spending on AI paying off?
Earnings dates and times
- Microsoft: Wednesday, October 28, after the US market closes (fiscal Q1 2027). Call at 5:30 p.m. ET.
- Alphabet: Wednesday, October 28, after the close (Q3 2026). Call at 4:30 p.m. ET.
- Amazon: Thursday, October 29, after the close (Q3 2026). Call at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Meta already reported on October 21, and Apple is expected around early November.
What Wall Street expects
Average analyst estimates (consensus), according to SentiSense:
- Microsoft: revenue about $90.6 billion, earnings per share (EPS) about $4.71
- Alphabet: revenue about $127.9 billion, EPS about $3.03
- Amazon: revenue about $202.2 billion, EPS about $1.96. Amazon itself guided for $197–202 billion in sales
The numbers that matter most
Microsoft: Azure growth
Microsoft guided for Azure cloud growth of about 45% (in constant currency). Investors will also watch AI demand, Copilot and how much Microsoft spends on data centers. Its quarterly capital spending guide was over $50 billion.
Alphabet: Google Cloud and AI search
Last quarter, Google Cloud revenue was about $24.8 billion, up nearly 82%. Investors will watch whether that pace continues, how AI Overviews and AI Mode affect search ads, and YouTube. Alphabet’s 2026 spending plan is $195–205 billion.
Amazon: AWS
AWS earned about $42.2 billion last quarter, up about 37%. Investors will watch AWS growth, AI demand, advertising and retail profit margins. Amazon expects about $220 billion in cash capital spending in 2026.
Together, these companies plan to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on AI this year. This week shows whether customers are paying enough to justify it.
Why this week is extra important
- Fed decision: the US Federal Reserve announces its interest rate decision on Wednesday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. ET, hours before Microsoft and Alphabet report.
- AI nerves: AI stocks have been shaky recently, and Meta just announced a giant stock sale to fund AI. Strong cloud numbers could calm investors; weak ones could add to the worry.
What it means for everyone else
These results affect more than investors. Cloud growth shows how fast businesses are adopting AI tools, and spending plans show how many new data centers, chips and AI services are coming. They also shape prices for cloud services used by startups and developers.
